Giulio Iurissevich's "The 3 Sisters" Selected for Publication in UK Association of Illustrators Images 29 Awards Annual and Accompanying Exhibition
LONDON,UK—June 22, 2005—Giulio Iurissevich's work, "The 3 Sisters," has been selected for publication in the UK Association of Illustrators Images 29 Awards Annual and in the accompanying exhibition. The only jury-selected annual in the UK, Images represents a review of the year's best contemporary illustration, providing an indispensable tool for leading commissioners and industry professionals. An international panel of judges, including highly regarded commissioners of illustration, successful illustrators and cultural commentators, marks each entry according to how well the work fulfills the brief, originality, and technical ability. The chosen works are published in the Images annual and a selection of these works included in the accompanying Images exhibition at a central London venue and the nation wide Images tour.
Show Details: The Association of Illustrators presents Images 29 from 20 to 30 July 2005 at the Mall Galleries in London. The show includes 200 (touring 70) award winning works from the established and new talents of British illustration. Images 29 provides an ideal overview of the wealth and variety of work being produced in the UK today from traditional line drawings to the newest digital techniques. On display are the original artworks featured in the only jury-selected illustration annual in the UK and commissioned by such companies as the BBC, Royal Mail, Conran Ltd and the national press. All the work is published in the Images 29 annual, out in July 2005. Images 29 reveals not just the outstanding talent of a particular year but a remarkable résumé of the trends and turbulence that have shaped today’s industry.
Giulio Iurissevich currently resides in Pordenone, Italy. He first began his career in law before returning to his first passion, making pictures, in 1998. He is now an accomplished illustrator specializing in fashion, beauty and lifestyle illustration and his current success is reflected with his recent inclusion in Batsford’s publication featuring a who’s who in fashion illustration worldwide, and his interview in Digital Creative Arts, the only comprehensive magazine covering digital arts in the UK. Driven by instinct and inspired by the female form, Iurissevich’s work explores volume, geometry and color—reducing unnecessary effects and focusing instead on clean lines and forms. Already a success in his native Europe, Iurissevich joined Store 44 Reps in 2004 to gain exposure within the American fashion illustration market. Giulio was recently accepted into The Society of Illustrators—the only institution dedicated to the art of illustration.
Now in it's 30th year, Images is an awards book and touring exhibition. Annually distributed, free, to over 4000 commissioners, the Images book is considered British illustration's most important document. Each year the contents are selected from hundreds of entries by seven separate juries of influential figures in the creative industry - art directors from advertising, periodical and book publishing, illustrators' agents and practicing illustrators. The featured work is by artists at all levels of experience and covers all the fields in which illustration is commissioned or inspired.
The AOI was established in 1973 to advance and protect illustrator’s rights and encourage professional standards. The AOI is a non-profit making trade association dedicated to its members’ professional interests and the promotion of illustration.
